Seattle police have apprehended a teenager involved in a high-speed chase and shooting incident in North Seattle. The confrontation occurred on Monday afternoon, leading to charges that include Drive-By Shooting and Assault, as reported by SPD Blotter.

The ordeal began with a reported drive-by shooting in the 900 block of Sandpoint Way Northeast, involving a maroon Honda minivan targeting a white transport van, fleeing the police, and darting into oncoming traffic, said witnesses. Capable of reaching estimated speeds of 90 miles per hour, the van vanished with no injuries known to have been incurred during the episode.

Participants in the pursuit observed at approximately 2:20 p.m. gunfire from the van towards the officers engaged in pursuit. Found later, the maroon minivan, a vehicle reported stolen, sat unoccupied and was seized by police. Shell casings from the incident were recovered near Northeast 137th Street and 15th Avenue Northeast. Subsequent investigations unearthed video evidence and led officers to a suspect's address, where he was arrested. According to statements recovered by SPD Blotter, this youth had been previously arrested for vehicle-related offenses. Although the firearm used in the shooting has not been located, the 14-year-old suspect now faces multiple charges and awaits his day in court from juvenile detention.

Another person, suspected of involvement, was briefly detained but released pending further information. Police efforts have intensified as detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit take the lead on the ongoing investigation of this case.
