A fatal collision has shaken the streets of Silver Spring, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Dori Campbell. As reported by the Montgomery County Police Department, Campbell now faces multiple charges following the tragic incident on September 8 that claimed the life of Ernest Joseph Dyson, a 39-year-old WSSC Water employee.

The early morning quiet was shattered when Campbell, driving her black 2011 Volkswagen CC, struck Dyson on New Hampshire Avenue near Rodney Road. The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) uncovered that Campbell was driving at a speed of 50 miles per hour, ten miles over the legal limit. Adding to the severity of the scene, investigators determined her blood alcohol content was 0.19, significantly over the 0.08 legal threshold. An incriminating half-empty bottle of alcohol was also found in her car.

Tragically, Dyson's injuries were fatal and he was pronounced dead at the site of the collision by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel. The loss of his life has undoubtedly left a void in the community and among his colleagues at WSSC Water, where he was regarded as a dedicated worker.

Today, authorities took Campbell into custody, as per the information given by the Montgomery County Police. She is charged with negligent manslaughter by vehicle, negligent homicide by vehicle while under the influence, driving on a suspended out-of-state license, and driving an uninsured vehicle. She now awaits a bond hearing at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
