The Springfield Police Department's Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) carried out a search warrant operation, resulting in the arrest of thirteen individuals. They seized an illegal firearm and significant amounts of cocaine and heroin.

According to the Springfield Police Department website, in the weeks before the raid, the FIU investigated a residence on Carew Terrace, suspected of being involved in local drug distribution. The property had been flagged as a public nuisance due to its activity. Detectives identified three key suspects—Luis Padro, Monte Haynes-Carthon, and Ashley Griffin. After securing a warrant, authorities monitored the house and its visitors.

During surveillance, officers detained Tylor Bombardier and Ashley King, both wanted on warrants. King had a capsule of crack cocaine, while Bombardier had four bags of heroin. Authorities also stopped a vehicle leaving the suspected house, arresting driver David Alexander and passenger Margaret Davis, both found with crack cocaine.

At 6:15 p.m., officers executed the search warrant at the house, finding Haylee Champagne, John Friberg Jr., and others inside. They seized a firearm, ammunition, around 42 grams of cocaine (powder and crack), 23 grams of heroin, and over $1,100 in cash. Later, FIU and the Hampden County Sheriff's Department arrested Monte Haynes-Carthon, Jonathan Cunningham, and Chelsea Lucia, all with active warrants. Cocaine was found on Haynes-Carthon during his arrest.

Several individuals were charged with trafficking heroin and cocaine, firearms offenses, and conspiracy. According to the Springfield Police Department, Padro and Griffin faced the most serious charges, including trafficking and firearms offenses.
