
A mobile phone sale gone awry resulted in a teenage girl facing robbery and assault charges following an incident in Hesperia. According to the SBSD Hesperia Police Department, the event occurred at 6:00 p.m. on November 25, in the 12700 block of Main Street.
Details from the report indicated the victim had arranged to sell a phone to the suspect. However, the interaction turned violent when the suspect allegedly snatched the phone and attempted to escape in a vehicle, during the fated meet-up both parties conversed briefly before the unexpected turn of events, that left the seller attempting to reclaim their property, as per the SBSD Hesperia Police Department. When the victim tried to prevent the suspect's escape, she was reportedly struck by the suspect's vehicle and sustained serious injuries that required transport to a trauma center where she remains in critical condition.
The following day, Hesperia Police detectives identified and apprehended the 17-year-old suspect after executing a search warrant where they retrieved the stolen phone and collected additional evidence, as mentioned in the official statement from the department. The unnamed juvenile was booked at the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center on the charges of PC 211- Robbery and PC 245 (a)(4) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Great Bodily Injury.
