Residents of the 32000 block of Torenia Court in Temecula were caught in a harrowing situation last Saturday when deputies responded to a call involving the sexual assault of a child. According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, a family detained Jose Rogelio Hernandez-Gallegos before law enforcement arrived. Hernandez-Gallegos, 45, is a Riverside resident who was providing painting services in the neighborhood.

The immediate response by deputies at around 4:24 p.m. led to an investigation that unveiled disturbing details. Hernandez-Gallegos seemingly found a way to not only gain access to a minor inside the residence but also to sexually abuse and photograph the victim. In a statement obtained by the Riverside Sheriff's Office, it was also disclosed that the suspect has since been arrested and booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. His charges include lewd acts with a minor, annoying and molesting a minor, and possession of obscene matter.

Investigators involved in the case have since moved to quickly to ask for a bail enhancement, which was granted at $250,000. This is in light of the nature of the crimes and the potential that there may be additional victims out there. Sergeant Joe Narciso, a reporting supervisor, highlighted that the investigation is ongoing and that they're committed to ensuring justice for the abused. No further details have yet been released as authorities continue their work.

The Riverside Sheriff's Southwest Station is now reaching out to the community, looking to identify if there are more victims of Hernandez-Gallegos' actions. They are urging those who might have information to come forward and speak to Investigator Dawn Oxley at (951) 696-3000. Explicitly acknowledging the gravity of these offenses, the Sheriff's Office has reassured the public that they will continue to relentlessly pursue individuals who prey on children.
