Texas has once again stamped its economic footprint on the national stage by leading the country in job creation over the past year. Governor Greg Abbott couldn't hold back his Texan pride as he announced the state's significant stride, adding 274,600 nonfarm jobs between October 2023 and October 2024, based on the employment data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. "Texas is where the future of America is building," declared Governor Abbott in a statement, highlighting Texas' business-friendly climate and skilled workforce as keys to its success.
During an address on Friday, Abbott was quick to emphasize Texas's unwavering progress with the Lone Star State reportedly outpacing the rest of the US when it comes to the annual job growth rate, aside from setting a record high for both the number of employed residents and the size of the labor force while the Governor underscored the ongoing investments in education and skills training as critical to empowering even more Texans. The state's economic trajectory has been on an upward climb, with more than 2.4 million jobs added under Governor Abbott's tenure, he proudly mentioned.
Abbott's administration has consistently assured business leaders and workers that Texas is dedicated to fostering an environment where entrepreneurship can thrive. This commitment is supported by strong employment numbers. The goal is not just to attract corporations, but also to ensure that families and communities benefit.
