Two more arrests have been made following a frightening incident in October where a school bus with children onboard was struck by gunfire in Coatesville, Chester County. Gabriel Johnson, 17, and Jose Medina, 20, both residents of Coatesville, have been accused of their alleged roles in the targeted attack. The two males are facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and related offenses, as per NBC Philadelphia. Johnson will be charged as an adult, adding a severe layer to the consequences of this disturbing act.
The Chester County District Attorney's Office and the Coatesville City Police Department have relentlessly worked to piece together what transpired on that harrowing afternoon of October 10. The ambush occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. near Hope Avenue and Charles Street. Surveillance video captured the moment when two individuals began to openly fire down the street, striking the school bus that carried high school students at the time, according to FOX 29. Gabriel Johnson is asserted to have fired six shots in this incident. Reports indicate no students were injured, although the school bus driver faced a near-miss and was exposed to the danger of shattered glass.
The County's District Attorney, Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe, emphasized the gravity of the situation, and in a statement obtained by 6abc, he said, "This is not the end of our investigation. We will continue to work towards arresting and convicting everyone involved in shooting at this school bus." The attack has been identified as targeted, with the suspects reportedly aiming at a specific individual alighting from the bus.
Previously, right after the incident, an 18-year-old suspect, Jaki White-Marshal, who is also a student at Coatesville High School, was taken into custody. He is currently facing aggravated assault among other charges. Authorities are actively searching for one more suspect implicated in the attack.
