A two-alarm fire broke out last night at an apartment on 4500 block of Wynbrook Way in north Charlotte, seriously injuring two residents and causing minor injuries to a firefighter. According to QC News, the Charlotte Fire Department responded to reports of smoke at approximately 11:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they encountered light smoke emanating from one unit and quickly escalated the incident to a second alarm fire.
The response team executed an urgent rescue for the apartment's occupants. "Firefighters rescued two residents who were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries," the Charlotte Fire Department confirmed in a statement obtained by QC News. Meanwhile, one firefighter sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries amidst the rescue efforts and was also treated at a local hospital.
The blaze, which was intense enough to require the extra manpower and resources of the second alarm, was contained within about 25 minutes, as detailed by QC News. Thankfully, the fire was confined to a single apartment unit and did not spread to adjacent homes within the complex.
As the community reels from the event, the cause of the fire remains a matter of investigation. "The cause of the fire is under investigation," stated the Charlotte Fire Department, reflecting a common thread of information shared across multiple sources including WCNC.
