On Tuesday afternoon, the Vallejo Police Department was alerted by citizens about a man, seemingly unbothered, brandishing a firearm in public. This individual was strolling near the intersection of Tennessee Street and Broadway Street, triggering multiple reports to the authorities.
According to a social media post from the Vallejo Police Department, officers from the Patrol Division were dispatched posthaste and spotted a male that fit the citizen descriptions. The male, found on Tuolumne Street close to Cassady Street, was detained by officers, likely for their safety, while they conducted their investigation. Walking on the street, the officers observed the man matching the description.
The man in question consented to carry a loaded firearm upon being questioned, and during the subsequent search, officers found the unregistered firearm lodged in his jacket pocket. Further inspection of his background revealed that the man was not only a convicted felon but also had two active arrest warrants out for arson and vandalism.
When officers continued to search the male, which was intended to be thorough, they discovered a substantial quantity of methamphetamine on his person. Following these findings, the suspect was taken into custody on multiple felony charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
As detailed in the department's announcement, all seized items, including the handgun, ammunition, and narcotics, were booked into evidence. After the arrest, the male, whose identity has not been released, was transported to the Solano County Jail.
