On a routine traffic stop due to expired registration, Vallejo Police Department's Patrol Division discovered more than vehicle violations last Thursday. The stop, involving a 1995 Honda Odyssey, led to a probation search that revealed a loaded, unregistered firearm and burglary tools. After the driver, identified to be on felony probation for burglary, was stopped, officers found two window punch tools in his possession, which the Vallejo Police Department reported on social media.
The traffic stop escalated when the female passenger was asked for identification. She verbally provided a name while insisting another department's previous search made the new search redundant. Under the passenger seat, officers uncovered the firearm, a shock to the woman who had earlier claimed nothing was amiss. The discovered wallet containing an ID card with a different name raised questions about her identity, which she claimed belonged to her sister, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
The situation intensified as a fingerprint scanner confirmed the passenger had provided a false identity. She admitted to using her sister's name, thinking an arrest warrant was outstanding against her. The female's record revealed convictions for fraud, further complicating her claims of innocence during the traffic stop. Both individuals were arrested and faced several charges after the Vallejo Police Department confirmed the search findings.
The car was towed, and items were booked into evidence, which trailed behind the suspects as they were transported to Solano County Jail.
