A high-speed pursuit unfolded in the residential streets of Victorville in the early hours of November 2, resulting in the arrest of a 60-year-old man, identified as Franklin Alexander Shearer. According to a SBSD Victorville Police Department press release, deputies from the Victorville Police Station attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle without a license plate at Seventh Street and Tracy Street at around 12:15 a.m.
The driver, later confirmed to be Shearer, did not comply and instead led authorities on a chase that veered through the Desert Breeze Mobile Home Park, maneuvering at dangerous speeds and crossing through multiple residential yards, as detailed by the SBSD Victorville Police Department. Ultimately, the motorcycle became ensnared, allowing deputies to apprehend Shearer without further incident. The suspect was found in violation of parole and also in possession of narcotics that appeared to be intended for sale, in addition to drug paraphernalia.
Following the pursuit, Shearer was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on charges of felony reckless evading, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and parole violation as cited by the Sheriff's Department's report. These allegations paint a sobering picture of the challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing such felonious disregard for public safety.
