Motor City residents are bracing for a wet and cloudy week ahead as the latest forecasts predict showers and overcast skies throughout Detroit. According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected to dampen the city, predominantly before 2 p.m. today, with new rainfall reaching between a quarter and half an inch as a southeast wind blows at 9 to 14 mph, with stronger gusts possible up to 25 mph, indicative of a certainty of precipitation sitting at a full 100%.
The evening brings a chance of showers between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., although the likelihood drops to 30%. Skies will remain cloudy overnight, with temperatures dipping to around 47 degrees. The east-southeast wind will ease, becoming light and calm. The forecast also predicts that Friday will stay mostly cloudy, with temperatures reaching a high near 54 degrees, accompanied by a gentle north-northwest wind at around 6 mph.
As the weekend approaches, Saturday is expected to provide a brief break of sunshine, with daytime highs near 53 degrees. However, the evening will return to mostly cloudy conditions, with temperatures dropping to around 43 degrees, establishing a pattern of gray skies that will persist into Sunday. Sunday will also be mostly cloudy, with highs reaching 57 degrees, ahead of another system that is expected to bring showers overnight and into the early part of the week.
Looking forward to Monday and the following days, the National Weather Service predicts mostly sunny skies to start the week with a high near 56 leading into a Monday night that carries the possibility of showers after 1 a.m., while the trend of likely showers persisting into Tuesday could mark a high near 59 degrees. Wednesday’s forecast mirrors the previous days with another chance of showers and highs around 53 degrees.
