A tragic incident took place early Saturday morning in North Philadelphia when a 58-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle and killed. According to NBC10, the woman, who was planning to move to the area over the weekend, was crossing the street with her husband at the intersection of Lehigh and Germantown avenues around 3:15 a.m. when a car speeding westbound hit her.
Shortly after the tragic event, the Philadelphia police located the vehicle involved, discovered about three blocks from the scene at Park and Lehigh avenues. The driver, suspected of driving under the influence and with the car lights off, was apprehended and taken into custody at Temple University Hospital, as stated in 6abc.com. FOX29 reported that the woman was attempting to cross the 1000 block of West Lehigh Avenue when she was hit by a tan-colored Chevy Malibu. She was declared deceased at the scene by responding medics.
