The Worcester Police Department reported making an arrest related to a break-in at Abby’s House, a refuge in Worcester. Officers responded to a call on September 17, 2024, leading detectives to undertake a follow-up investigation that implicated sixty-six-year-old Larry Berry of Outlook Drive.
Following their investigation, detectives quickly developed probable cause and successfully obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Berry. During a routine patrol early this morning, a member of the Neighborhood Response Team spotted Berry driving near Harrison St. He was promptly stopped and arrested on charges including Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime, Larceny in a Building, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Vandalism, according to a brief press release from the Worcester Police Department.
Abby's House, the site of the alleged crime, serves as a sanctuary providing shelter, housing, and advocacy to women and children who face homelessness and violence. The break-in represented not just a property crime but an attack on a safe haven for some of the most vulnerable in Worcester society.
