The Metropolitan Police Department has apprehended a young suspect in connection with an armed carjacking that shook a Northeast neighborhood earlier this year. In a display of determination characteristic of law enforcement's ongoing battle against soaring carjackings, a 15-year-old juvenile male was arrested on December 11, 2024, following thorough investigative efforts by the MPD.
According to the official report by the MPD, the incident unfolded on September 19, 2024, shortly after 10:30 p.m., when the suspect, brandishing a handgun, emerged from a vehicle and confronted the owner seated in their car on the 500 block of 48th Place, Northeast. Under the threat, the victim complied and surrendered the vehicle, which would later be recovered by the authorities.
The teenager was charged with Armed Carjacking (Gun).
The investigation is still in progress as MPD continues to piece together the events of that September night.
