An incident on the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 brought traffic to a standstill yesterday when an 18-wheeler, carrying a cargo of vehicles, struck a bridge near St Francis. The collision resulted in several of the vehicles being dislodged and strewn across the highway, prompting a shutdown of the road as the Dallas County Sheriff's Office Traffic Deputies responded to the scene.
According to the official Facebook post from the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, the incident left the entire westbound lanes blocked, with traffic being diverted to Loop 12/Buckner Blvd. Although the mishap caused significant delays during early morning traffic, no injuries were reported fortunately in the aftermath of what could have been a severe accident. Working swiftly to mitigate the traffic impacts, the Sheriff's Office provided updates as the situation on I-30 evolved.
Later updates from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office indicated a partial reopening of I-30. At 5:20 am, all lanes but the right lane had been cleared for traffic. The swift response from traffic deputies and work crews helped to alleviate major traffic delays as commuters began their early morning travels. Recovering the scattered vehicles and ensuring the bridge's safety was paramount to lifting the road blockade.
