Those about to rock in Detroit can expect to be amazed come 2025 when AC/DC makes a high-voltage appearance at Ford Field, marking nearly a decade since the band last played in the Motor City. As reported by CBS News, the legendary Australian rockers are slated to bring their "Power Up Tour" to the famed stadium on April 30, heralding a 13-city North American tour sparking excitement amongst fans of rigorously unpretentious rock.
The tour announcement, which includes opening act The Pretty Reckless, sent a ripple of enthusiasm across the rock music landscape, where AC/DC's dedicated fan base has been eagerly awaiting a chance to see the band's classic lineup, namely vocalist Brian Johnson and lead guitarist Angus Young, in action. According to WOODTV, the tour is set to commence on April 10 in Minneapolis and will wind up on May 28 at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. However, tickets to catch the hall-of-farmers live in Detroit will go on sale on Friday.
Brian Johnson's reunion with the band has been especially heralded, given his hiatus due to hearing issues, which at one time necessitated Axl Rose of Guns N' Roses to fill in for him. With Johnson's return to the helm as frontman, the group's constellation is once again realigned to its classic visage. MLive detailed that the band is ready to rock the home of the Detroit Lions, a stop fans in Michigan are particularly charged up for, given the long absence since AC/DC performed at the now-defunct Palace of Auburn Hills back in 2016.
