An adult was killed and three children were injured Saturday evening in a collision between a train and a vehicle in Coloma, Berrien County. WZZM 13 reports that at 7:06 p.m., Coloma Township Police Department responded to the railroad crossing at Clements Ct., just north of E. Logan Street, after the crash occurred. According to the police, the collision involved four persons, an adult and three children, who were in the car at the time of the incident.
According to Wood TV of the incident, the adult driver was confirmed to be deceased at the scene, while the three children were transported to the hospital for treatment and were in stable condition.
The area around the crash site was cordoned off as multiple agencies, including the Michigan State Police, Berrien County Sheriff's Office, Watervliet Police Department, and the Coloma Police Department, responded to the call, as noted by WSBT. The train that was involved in the collision resumed movement shortly before 10:45 p.m. that same evening.
Details about the incident are still limited. "It is unclear what led up to the collision," a statement in the WSBT article said.
