After chugging along for 16 years, EnterTRAINment Junction, a beloved Ohio train-themed attraction, is closing its doors for good. The announcement, steeped in nostalgia and pragmatism, was initially shared with the public in December 2024. With the final whistle set to blow on January 5, the attraction has slated a comprehensive "everything must go" liquidation sale between January 11 and January 26, noted in a WHIO report.
Long-standing owner Don Oeters intends to hammer in the last spike by selling off store inventory, office furniture, appliances, and sundry store effects. Yet, not everything is destined for the auction block. Many of EnterTRAINment Junction’s trains and thematic elements will find new life elsewhere, as revealed in a social media post by Local12. A Chattanooga, Tennessee group spearheaded by Craig Fuller of Firecrown Media plans to incorporate the main 25,000-square-foot train exhibit into a future transportation museum.
Other parts of the exhibit also make tracks of various local businesses and organizations. For instance, the signage will adorn a new Morrow brewery, and Matthew 25 Ministries will take over the A-Maze-N Funhouse. These relocations speak to an enduring interest in transportation and community heritage, according to details shared by WCPO.
As for Oeters, this marks the end of a dream to build the world's largest indoor train display, which was indeed realized and adored by families for nearly two decades. "This has been a labor of love for so many years and a lot of really good people have put their hearts and souls into this project to make it the best family attraction possible," Oeters reminisced in sentiments captured by WCPO. Despite efforts to sell the business, a buyer never emerged, turning what was once a bustling site of joy and entertainment into a warehouse of cherished memories awaiting their final dispatch.
