Amtrak service has been halted between New York Penn Station and Philadelphia due to downed overhead wires. The issue has caused a full suspension of service in one of the Northeast's busiest corridors. Amtrak crews are on site working to repair the damage.

According to abc7NY, Amtrak officials initially hoped to restore service by 10 a.m., but the complexity of the repairs has delayed the resumption to noon. Amtrak noted, "Customers with reservations on affected trains will typically be accommodated on trains with similar departure times or another day. Amtrak will waive additional charges for customers looking to change their reservation during the modified schedule by calling our reservation center at 1-800-USA-RAIL."

This issue also affects New Jersey Transit's Atlantic City Rail Line, with service suspended between Cherry Hill and 30th Street Station in Philadelphia. As per the CBS News report, rail tickets and passes will be cross-honored by PATCO, and substitute bus service has been arranged.
