
The Arlington County Police Department has reported the arrest of Leonardo Reyes, 23, of Arlington, in connection with a harrowing incident in Pentagon City where a woman and a toddler were viciously stabbed.
Authorities responded to a distressing call around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday on the 900 block of Army Navy Drive, there they found two victims, an adult female, and a toddler, both with severe lacerations; the adult is now in critical but stable condition, and the young child is stable, according to an official release from the Arlington County Police Department.
The violent encounter reportedly took place as the adult victim, holding the toddler, was ambushed by the assailant with a knife in what authorities are investigating as a domestic-related attack, Reyes, who now faces multiple serious charges including Aggravated Malicious Wounding and Child Abuse, according to the police report, has been remanded to the Arlington County Detention Facility without bond.
Following the issuance of a lookout alert, Reyes was spotted by law enforcement attempting to hide under a vehicle in a parking garage, and after struggling against officers and the intervention of a police K9, he was taken into custody, outlined further in the aforementioned police report.
