
Memphis is grappling with a string of food truck robberies, the latest incident occurring at the Taco-N-Ganas chain—a local favorite known for its Mexican cuisine. According to Action News 5, on Tuesday night at 7:41 p.m., two men armed and masked stormed through the back door of the Taco-N-Ganas food truck at 2760 South Perkins Road, holding the employees at gunpoint before fleeing with the day's earnings.
The Memphis Police Department, as detailed in a social media post, described the first suspect as a thin-built Black male, dressed in a black mask, black hoodie, black pants with a white stripe, white shoes, and toting a black handgun; the second suspect is believed to be a Black male with an average build, seen wearing a black hoodie, dark pants, tan-colored Jordan sneakers, and armed with a gray handgun, the police breathed life into the suspects’ descriptions hoping the community would aid in recognizing them.
Security footage of the robbery was released on Thursday by police, as reported by FOX13 Memphis. In the surveillance video, the incident unfolds rapidly with one of the armed assailants rummaging through an employee's pockets; despite the display of violence, no injuries were reported in the aftermath of the robbery.
The Memphis Police are investigating connections between these suspects and several other food truck robberies in the area, making it clear that these perpetrators are not strangers to this type of crime, Taco-N-Ganas is reinforcing their optimistic approach to the situation, stating that their closed Olive Branch food truck should resume operations shortly, despite recent setbacks related to Mississippi code enforcement.
