The City of Aurora has decided to close down The Edge at Lowry apartment complex, a site that has been synonymous with allegations of criminal activities tied to migrant gangs. On Tuesday, the counsel for the owners conveyed in court that they would not contest the city-arranged closure of the property situated near 12th Avenue and Dallas Street, as reported by 9News.

With this settlement to shutter The Edge at Lowry, the ownership group, CBZ, effectively marks its end of tenure as landlords within this enclave of Aurora. Notably, CBZ's former holdings included four establishments across the city, as The Denver Post reveals, but this last piece's closure now means the cessation of their local operations. Earlier in August, an order went out for the closure of another CBZ-owned address at 1568 Nome Street, deemed uninhabitable, emphasizing the stretched, deeply-rooted concerns regarding the safety and standards, of these residential offerings.

The issues with CBZ-managed properties seem to longitudinally stretch, with two additional buildings, including parts of the greater Edge of Lowry complex itself, having been handed over to a court-appointed caretaker. This switch in administration materialized after the Baumgartens defaulted on loans with those properties as securities. Creating a spectrum of issues, the troubled apartments have been central in city discussions on housing quality and management practices.
