Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) has announced a year full of significant air service expansions, welcoming new airlines and introducing 11 new nonstop destinations. According to a recent blog post on the City of Austin official website, this growth spurt includes forming a new partnership with Viva Aerobus and celebrating the tenth anniversary of British Airways connecting Austin to London Heathrow.
The addition of Viva Aerobus as an airline partner allows Austin travelers to directly, and more affordably, fly to Monterrey, Mexico, a city lauded for its cultural vibrancy and delectable cuisine. "We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership and what it means for our community," says the AUS announcement. The service began to significantly hook travelers to this Mexican destination since March 22, 2024. Austin's connections to global destinations continue to grow, offering passengers not just travel options, but new chapters to eagerly anticipate in their life stories.
British Airways marks a decade of its presence at AUS, an airline that essentially shrunk the Atlantic for Austinites, rendering London and, by extension, Europe more accessible. Over these last ten years, they've flown countless passengers across the sea in what has become more than just a service, but a steady rhythm in the tune of Austin's international heartbeat. "Here’s to 10 more years (and beyond) of connecting Austin to the world!" exclaims the AUS release on the anniversary.
The expansion doesn't stop at international routes. AUS also announced new domestic flights, including services to San Juan, Puerto Rico; Nashville, Tennessee; and Boston, Massachusetts, among others. With the airport now serving 85 nonstop destinations, the capability to swiftly zip Austin residents across the skies has undoubtedly leaped forward. "Every new destination and milestone represents growth, opportunity, and connection," the airport statement highlights.
Travelers interested in exploring the full list of nonstop flights out of AUS can visit the site and also discover the convenience and opportunities that come with the airport's newest additions. From Monterrey to Montreal, and from the Gulf of Mexico to the heart of the Midwest, these connections reflect Austin's ongoing commitment to meeting its region's travel demands. "AUS is proud to be your gateway to the world and to bring you more ways to explore, connect, and experience life," the airport concludes in their statement.
