It's official: The University of Oklahoma has found its new offensive mastermind, with Ben Arbuckle stepping up to the plate as the football team's offensive coordinator – a role previously held by the recently dismissed Seth Littrell, as KTUL reported. Arbuckle, whose playbook acumen comes from his most recent gig at Washington State, takes on a program looking for a rebound after what can be charitably described as a less-than-stellar season.
Before you could say 'hut, hut, hike,' Arbuckle, who is no stranger to the Texas gridiron with his history as a buff quarterback for the West Texas A&M Buffaloes, was snatched by the Sooners – the same team that, back in October, had shown Littrell the door following a loss that some fans are still trying to scrub from their memory, this according to Amarillo Globe-News, Arbuckle's not just a familiar face from his college years but also a standout from his high school days at Canadian High School in the Texas Panhandle, it shows the local boy does indeed have a knack of going places.
Described as being just 29 years old, Arbuckle is not only a strategist on the field but also bears the academic heft of dual degrees in finance and economics, a combination that suggests he might just know a thing or two about making some strategic gambles and calculating risks; the KOCO report mentions his tenure at Western Kentucky, where he cut his teeth as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach before the Washington State gig.
