A Boston man faces federal charges after allegedly being caught with a firearm and ammunition. The U.S. Attorney's Office states that Kyvon Ross, 25, was charged with one count of being a felon in possession of these items.

The complaint details allege that on October 3, 2024, Ross was involved in a confrontation with law enforcement. Driving a moped without a visible license plate, he reportedly sped toward an officer, lost control, and ultimately resisted arrest. During this incident, a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number was found in his possession.

Ross, who was previously convicted in 2021 for a similar felony firearm charge, is banned from possessing firearms and ammunition. Scheduled for an appearance in federal court in Boston tomorrow, he could be looking at up to 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000, should he be convicted of the current charges.

The announcement made by U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy and FBI Special Agent in Charge Jodi Cohen credited the cooperation of the Boston Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives with aiding the investigation. According to them, Assistant U.S. Attorney William F. Abely, Chief of the Criminal Division, is assigned to prosecute the case. However, in accordance with the legal principle of presumption of innocence, Ross will remain innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
