A Brockton man was taken into police custody in West Bridgewater, facing multiple charges, including driving a vehicle reported as stolen. The West Bridgewater Police Department detailed the arrest of 32-year-old Elvis Andrade, a resident of Brockton, in a recent social media post. Andrade, who had an active warrant out for his arrest by Stoughton Police, has been accused of a list of offenses, among them receiving a stolen motor vehicle and possession of a burglarious instrument.

Yesterday morning, Officer Brian C. Smith Jr. of the West Bridgewater Police noticed a vehicle with a suspicious license plate while on patrol. Upon running a check, the plate came back as stolen. Officer Smith observed the vehicle suddenly pick up an individual on the street before pulling it over near 31 South Main St. With the assistance of Officers Daniel Sullivan and Richard Flaherty, Andrade was then confronted and subsequently arrested after refusing to properly identify himself.

According to the social media post from West Bridgewater Police, a verification of the vehicle's VIN confirmed it as stolen from Stoughton on December 2, and the license plates had been reported stolen on December 13, out of Brockton. The arrest revealed several items during a search, including a screwdriver and several documents such as passports, debit and credit cards, and IDs belonging to varied individuals.

As per the police reports, Andrade was wanted on multiple charges, with five active arrest warrants. Stoughton Police had issued an arrest warrant on December 24 in connection with multiple car thefts and credit card fraud incidents. Andrade's personal items and his initial reluctance to reveal his identity further connected him to the ongoing investigations. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court, facing the charges against him. As the case unfolds, authorities remind the public that these are merely accusations, and the suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
