
Charlotte residents were shaken following a late-night shooting on University City Boulevard that has left one man dead and two others wounded. According to a statement by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. yesterday in the 7800 block of the boulevard.
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound who was later transported to Atrium Main and pronounced dead. Two additional subjects suffering from gunshot wounds are currently receiving treatment at Atrium Health University, as CMPD's Public Affairs Office reported.
The CMPD's Homicide Unit is actively Leading the investigation into the shooting, with Detective Moore taking charge of the case. The Crime Scene Search team has also been involved, tasked with processing the crime scene and collecting relevant physical evidence. Support at the scene was further bolstered by representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim Services, and MEDIC.
