
A tragic accident in the Eastway Division has claimed the life of a local motorcyclist. Nazar Halushka, 28, was involved in a collision on Parkwood Avenue on November 2, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 5:09 p.m., where they found Halushka severely injured beside his 2021 Yamaha XSR 700 motorcycle and a 1996 International 4700 tow truck.
The incident did not appear to involve direct contact between the tow truck and the motorcycle. Instead, Halushka reportedly collided with an orange traffic barrel while both vehicles were passing one another in a no passing zone. Despite efforts to save him, Halushka was transported to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died on November 22 at 2:02 a.m. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has confirmed that speed and impairment were not factors in the crash.
