Charlotte is grappling with the tragic death of Kennedi Aniyah Flora Jones following a car accident late on Christmas night. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to an emergency call at approximately 11:20 p.m. on December 25, arriving at the 4800 block of Shamrock Drive to find a vehicle that had tumbled down an embankment, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The vehicle's driver, Ms. Jones, was discovered with life-threatening injuries and quickly transported to Atrium Main, where, despite medical efforts, she was pronounced dead. What initially appeared to be a tragic motor vehicle accident has taken a murkier turn, for, the CMPD's Homicide Unit is now overseeing the investigation.
The CMPD has pulled together a team comprising the Major Crash Investigation Unit, the DWI Task Force, and the Crime Scene Search to piece together the circumstances of Ms. Jones' untimely passing. Detectives are collecting physical evidence and details to illuminate what transpired that fateful night. Their findings so far have not been made public.
The loss of Ms. Jones, whose identity was confirmed by hospital authorities, has compelled CMPD to issue a call for information.
