Senior citizens in Downingtown are stepping into a brighter future this holiday season, thanks to a generous $450,000 grant from Chester County's Commissioners. The fund, destined for a new Brandywine Valley Active Aging (BVAA) Downingtown campus, was disclosed at the organization's annual HollyDay luncheon. According to the Chester County announcement, the investment will significantly contribute to the establishment of a permanent location for senior community services.

Bill Pierce, BVAA Executive Director, arranged the special presentation and did not hide his appreciation. He stressed the urgency of finding a permanent space, saying, as per Chester County, "But the time has now come to re-establish a place in the Downingtown area that can accommodate all the activities and programs we provide, and the meals we serve for more than 110 people every day." The organization has been temporarily operating from Brandywine Grace Church, making the grant, which Pierce greatly welcomed, a much-needed boon for the seniors they serve.

According to Chester County's announcement, the Commissioners' grant is sourced from the county’s Department of Community Development. This funding is designated for covering acquisition costs, ensuring that BVAA’s Downingtown Campus has a solid foundation to support its crucial programs. These programs range from health and wellness activities to nutrition services — all critical elements for the well-being of older adults.
