The NBC Los Angeles reported debris scattered across the road with the CHP patrol car ending up upside down. This reduced freeway traffic to one lane for a period. Even though traffic lanes have reopened, the aftermath left the morning commute in a snarl. Two CHP officers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries sustained from the crash. How many other vehicles were involved remains unclear.
Further details revealed by ABC 7 indicate that the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Highway Patrol had clarified that the officers were not engaged in a vehicle pursuit at the time of the incident. A SigAlert was declared at the scene, resulting in the temporary closure of all eastbound lanes of the freeway.
