A 57-year-old man from Greater Cincinnati area was apprehended following an attempt to carjack an elderly woman at gunpoint. Local police have reported that Timothy Baugh was arrested and is now facing charges of aggravated robbery in connection with the incident outside a Walgreens on Branch Hill Guinea Pike. According to Local12, a bystander's intervention led to Baugh fleeing the scene before his arrest on Friday afternoon.
The attempted carjacking has raised concerns among residents. "It's an unusual thing in this area. It's pretty scary," noted Angela Kraeutle, echoing the sentiment that the event was out of character for the community. "That's really unusual for this area, so I'm pretty alarmed by it, honestly," Kraeutle told Local12. Elmwood Place Police Chief Randall Newsom observed that such incidents of carjacking are a growing issue, adding a warning for vigilance in parking lots.
Miami Township Police collaborated with multiple law enforcement agencies in the investigation, which resulted in Baugh's capture. Baugh, who resides in Goshen Township, has been described as 6 feet tall and 235 pounds, bald with green eyes, according to FOX19. His arrest was made without incident, and he was taken to Clermont County Jail, leaving the community relieved.
The police were initially alerted to a vehicle abandoned in Blanchester, which was believed to be driven by the suspect. This led to arrest warrants being issued for Baugh. The Clermont County Jail will be Baugh's residence as he awaits his court appearance on Monday. In a community and law enforcement cooperation demonstration, the Miami Township Police thanked the public for their tips, which helped locate Baugh. "Great job, Miami Township!" they expressed in an update following the arrest.
