The City of Waukesha is gearing up for its 61st Annual Christmas Parade, a festive event that is set to bring a dose of holiday cheer to downtown. Hosted by the City of Waukesha Chamber of Commerce, the parade will commence on Sunday, at the stroke of 4:00 p.m., following a route that weaves through the heart of the city.
As attendees eagerly await the colorful procession, they are advised to find parking in city lots or utilize street parking away from the direct vicinity of the event. According to the official announcement on the City of Waukesha website, parking will not be allowed along the parade route after 2:00 p.m., and to truly immerse into the festivities, traffic closures will be enforced starting from 3:00 p.m., lasting until the event's conclusion. Free 2-hour parking can be found at both the Transit Center and South Street ramps.
The parade, a staple of seasonal mirth, will feature Santa Claus, ornately decorated floats, and vibrant marching bands. This year, enhanced safety measures are to be implemented, including vehicle barriers designed to securely block roads along the parade route and provide protection to the crowd. These Modular Vehicle Barriers (MVBs) are both formidable against errant vehicles and can be rapidly moved in cases of emergency.
For those who prefer to enjoy the parade from the comfort of home, the City of Waukesha has plans to live stream the event, ensuring that no one has to miss out on the spectacle. City officials are working hand in hand with the Chamber of Commerce and emergency services to ensure that the revelry can be safely enjoyed by all. The City's purchase of the MVBs reflects their commitment to safely manage the convergence of communal joy and public assembly.
The anticipation for the upcoming parade is palpable, with festive music and seasonal decorations set to be broadly shared, much to the delight of local residents. For more information regarding the parade, viewers can visit the City of Waukesha website.
