As the festive cheer of Christmas gives way to the calm of the new year, Cobb County residents have a sustainable way to say goodbye to their live Christmas trees. Keep Cobb Beautiful is sponsoring free tree drop-offs, transforming holiday remnants into mulch, fuel, and habitats for wildlife. Between December 25, and January 4, 2025, locals can recycle their trees at select Home Depot locations and Fullers Park, ensuring post-Yuletide greenery gets a second act.
Before surrendering trees to this environmental encore, residents are reminded to strip them of all decorations and lights, guaranteeing that only pure, unadulterated foliage passes onto the mulchers and shredders ready to fulfill their purpose. Those with flocked trees or wreaths, however, will need to seek alternative disposal methods, as these items are excluded from the program. Locations such as 3355 Cobb Parkway and 1200 East-West Connector are prepared to receive the naked arbors.
Adding a touch of growth to this recycling initiative, participating Home Depot stores are offering free saplings on January 4, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving citizens the chance to plant new life in exchange for what they let go. In a symbiotic exchange detailed on Cobb County's official page, rebirth feeds from the remnants of past celebrations.
