
A tragic event unfolded on Christmas Eve in Northeast DC, where a pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The Metropolitan Police Department reports the crash occurred around 7:04 p.m. at C Street and 16 Street, NE, where officers found the victim, 66-year-old Ronnie Clark from Northeast, on the sidewalk.
Moments after the incident, DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived, but despite their best efforts, Clark was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect vehicle's driver, now identified as a 2010 Nissan Murano, apparently lost control at a high rate of speed, struck a curb, and then mounted the sidewalk before fleeing the scene on foot.
Detectives from the MPD's Major Crash Investigations Unit are actively looking to identify the driver responsible for the incident and are calling on the public for any information, authorities encourage anyone with knowledge of the crash to contact the police directly at (202) 727-9099 or to submit a tip via text to 50411.
