The Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS) is urgently calling for community support in their final push to gather winter coats for individuals facing the harsh streets of Dallas without shelter. In collaboration with the Dallas Public Library and The OHS Friends Group, the OHS Coat Drive has set a target of 1,000 coats to aid those in dire need of warmth, currently falling short by 600 coats as the deadline of December 31 looms near, as per the City of Dallas.
Those able to contribute can donate new or gently used adult-sized winter coats at selected drop-off points around the city, including participating Dallas branch libraries and Smoky Rose Restaurant. The need for these donations is not just another statistic – it represents the very real struggle of hundreds within the city, grappling with the cold without a place to call home, all while the OHS and its partners seek to provide a modicum of comfort during the winter months.
The coat drive's details are further outlined by Gloria Sandoval, Community Services Program Administrator for the OHS, who has been leading the initiative. Interested citizens can join the effort on Wednesday, December 18 starting at 10 a.m. at the Lakewood Branch Library located at 6121 Worth Street, Dallas, TX 75214.
