The search for 37-year-old Dawn Neilson, who went missing on Thanksgiving Day in Detroit, has ended as she has been found. Neilson was last seen leaving her home on W 7 Mile Rd., near Telegraph Rd., according to a report by WWJ Newsradio. Her disappearance led to her boyfriend reporting her as missing to the authorities last Monday.
Detroit Police communicated an update last night stating that Neilson had been "recovered," but did not disclose the location where she was found nor deliver additional details regarding the circumstances of her recovery. There remains something of a gap in the public narrative surrounding her disappearance and what has occurred since.
The brief statement on the Detroit Police Department's Missing Persons Facebook page simply thanked the public for their assistance in the case. The recovery of Neilson brings an end to this particular search, yet the Detroit Police Department continues to urge anyone with information regarding other missing person cases to step forward.
The department has reminded the public that anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up (800-773-2587), or by submitting information through their online form, the spirit of community vigilance in these matters underpins the efforts to bring closure to multiple open cases throughout the city.
