An overnight blaze in Denton claimed the life of one elderly person and left another in critical condition. The fire erupted in the 2000 block of Houston Place at approximately 10:55 pm, trapping two victims inside the burning structure. First responders arrived to find heavy flames engulfing the front of the home, according to a social media post from the City of Denton Fire Department.

Firefighters launched into action instantly to both extinguish the blaze and locate the trapped individuals. A second alarm was sounded at 11:07 pm. They successfully rescued an elderly male and female from the home. Both were in critical condition when transported to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where one of them passed away shortly after arrival.
