The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) has extended its Denver Connector, an on-demand ride-share service, into a third region of the city, bringing the convenient travel option to the people of West Denver. Initially launched in Montbello back in 2021, DOTI's program aimed to give the community a boost in mobility and an affordable method to get around their neighborhoods and to key transit stops. Now, residents of Villa Park, Sun Valley, Westwood, Athmar Park, Ruby Hill, and Valverde can all hop onto this growing transportation network, increasing their access to the city's offerings.
According to Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, the Denver Connector's expansion comes after previously adding Gateway, and the neighborhoods of Globeville and Elyria-Swansea to its roster. With nearly 250,000 passengers served so far, the success of the service is evident, showing just how vital such initiatives are for community connectivity and transit equity. The new service covers around 6.3 square miles and gives residents access to several recreation centers, two RTD transit stations, Decatur-Federal and Alameda, as well as medical facilities, libraries, and shopping destinations.
The Denver Connector operates with practicality in mind. Those within the service areas can simply download an app or place a call to book a ride on weekdays, between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. True to its community-focused ethos, the service is completely free. Its robust fleet comprises nine vehicles, including a wheelchair-accessible van, two plug-in hybrid minivans, and an all-electric crossover, illustrating DOTI's commitment to both accessibility and environmental stewardship.
