A Denver man has been taken into custody as part of an undercover operation aimed at halting child predators. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office spearheaded the sting in early December, which involved undercover agents posing as minors on local websites, opening up lines for illegal solicitations.

Besting the usual cautions, one man went beyond mere communication and arrived at the predetermined meeting point only to find himself surrounded by deputies instead of the child he expected. The operation, as detailed by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, resulted in the arrest of Malcom Cardelle McCrea, who now faces several felony charges including patronizing a prostituted child and attempted sexual assault on a child.

According to the Sheriff's Office, McCrea, whose birth date is listed as March 17, 1988, was booked into the Larimer County Jail with a bond set at $50,000 cash/surety. The operation was a collaborative effort, drawing in resources and support from the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force and the local District Attorney's Office to bring the operation to fruition.

Sheriff John Feyen condemned the acts underlying the sting, asserting, "Sexual exploitation of anyone is never acceptable, and crimes against children are particularly atrocious." Further noting that "LCSO will always stand up for the most vulnerable and fight to impact these crimes,"  as obtained by Larimer County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office is set to continue to fight vehemently against the exploitation of minors, reflecting a dire need for vigilance and proactive law enforcement in these spheres.
