The Detroit Fire Department is poised to launch a series of public webinars aimed at bolstering fire safety awareness among residents, according to a news release on the city's official website. Starting January 8, at 6 p.m., the DFD Safety Series will provide a platform for direct communication between fire safety professionals and the community to discuss a range of topics critical for maintaining safety and preventing fires in the city.

"Our team does a great job of meeting residents where they are by hosting fire safety presentations at schools and senior centers across the city," said Executive Fire Commissioner Chuck Simms, "This webinar series will fill a critical gap and ensure residents of all ages are connected to resources and education to keep themselves, and their families safe." Managing the webinars will be Community Relations Chief James Harris, who will facilitate a dialogue between Detroiters and a rotating roster of fire prevention and safety experts, as per the City of Detroit.

The initiative reflects a collaborative effort within various divisions of the Detroit Fire Department to extend outreach and education beyond physical locations. Each session will focus on different aspects of fire safety, from the proper use of lithium-ion batteries to fire prevention strategies while cooking. Participants will have the unique opportunity to engage directly with the experts, asking questions and receiving advice in real time.
