Detroit’s Movement Music Festival has released a preview of its 2025 lineup, featuring well-known and emerging names in the techno scene. As reported by ClickOnDetroit, the festival, set for May 24-26 at Hart Plaza, will showcase a mix of established artists and new talent.
Highlighting the pack is Carl Cox, bringing his Hybrid Live Set to Detroit's storied event after an eight-year hiatus. Speaking of his return, Carl Cox expressed his excitement to the Detroit Free Press, "I’m going to make up for the years I’ve missed with a show that’s going to send Detroit to another dimension!"
John Summit also gears up to close out the festival, as per Metro Times, quoting him as saying, "I’ve attended as a fan for years and the energy and support this city and crowd bring is always special. It’s an honor to be a part of such a legendary event."
The first wave announcement includes performances from the likes of DJ Minx and Carl Craig, representing Detroit's techno roots. International artists will be provided by names such as Anfisa Letyago, DJ Gigola, Klangkuenstler, and the "queen of the Palestinian techno scene," Sama’ Abdulhadi, Metro Times reports. Tickets for the festival, including general admission and VIP three-day passes as well as single-day access, can be purchased on the Movement's official website.
Festival-goers will experience both a diverse lineup and a renovated venue, with $9 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan Act. Hart Plaza, the event's long-time location, has undergone significant upgrades, including the restoration of the Dodge and Son Memorial Fountain, which, according to Metro Times, will be operational for the first time in years, featuring mist and color-changing LEDs.
As Movement organizers announce the rest of the artist lineup in the coming months, the festival remains a major event for techno fans and music enthusiasts. Stay updated on the lineup and plan to attend next Memorial Day weekend in Detroit.
