
The Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed the arrest of a 42-year-old man from District Heights, Maryland, concerning a recent assault that occurred in the Northwest area of Washington, D.C. Identified as Jovan Middleton, the suspect has been charged with Aggravated Assault following an incident that left one person with serious injuries.
A statement released by the Metropolitan Police Department detailed that the assault took place last Wednesday when the victim was walking along the Unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest. The attacker reportedly struck from behind, causing the victim to fall and sustain serious injuries. The severity of the injuries, however, was deemed non-life-threatening. With help from local community members and their provision of camera footage, detectives were able to eventually positively identify the assailant and circulate his photograph amongst officers, aiding in his capture.
An update posted on the Metropolitan Police Department's website stated that Sixth District officers located and apprehended Middleton at approximately 10:50 p.m. yesterday. The arrest culminated in the diligent work of the detectives involved in the case.
Middleton is presently awaiting further legal proceedings related to the Aggravated Assault charge.
