Authorities in Durham have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Trocon George, which occurred in May. According to The News & Observer, 25-year-old Damonte Lewis faces charges including murder, felony conspiracy, and possession of a weapon of mass destruction following an indictment by a grand jury and his subsequent arrest on Monday.

The incident took place in the 1500 block of Guess Road, where George was found fatally shot in the parking lot of a business. In addition to the murder charge, Lewis is accused of illegally carrying an assault rifle-style Palmetto State Armory PX9 9mm handgun, which is classified as a weapon of mass destruction. Lewis, currently being held in the Durham County jail with no bond, was also indicated by an arrest warrant to have conspired with at least two other unknown persons in the killing of George, as CBS 17 reported.

The shooting took place shortly after 8:30 p.m. on the evening of May 21. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered George with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the location. The area of Guess Road where the incident occurred is known locally for its businesses and residential communities, and the case has since been under investigation by the Durham police.

WRAL adds that the arrest of Lewis comes after months of inquiry, with no other details on potential motives, or the identity of the other alleged conspirators having been released at this time.
