Earlier yesterday, Eaton Rapids Police Department, with support from the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police, responded to an emergency call on the 900 block of Raeburn Street. According to the MLive report, a man was alleged to have been handcuffed and assaulted inside a home.
The authorities, failing to get a response from those inside, decided to forcibly enter the home, driven by "grave concern" for the occupants' well-being. Upon entry, they found four people and one male victim with injuries to his face. Eaton County Prosecutor Doug Lloyd was requested to bring charges of aggravated domestic violence and unlawful imprisonment against a 47-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, as detailed in a report by the Lansing State Journal.
Further investigation revealed that the injured man was the adult son of the woman found in the house. The other two individuals discovered, whose details were not provided, were released after questioning. Eaton Rapids Police Chief Larry Joe Weeks confirmed to 6 News the family connection between the victim and one of the suspects.
While initial reports indicated the victim was handcuffed, Eaton Rapids Police Chief Weeks mentioned to 6 News that upon officers' entry, "no one in the home was in handcuffs." The circumstances surrounding the assault are still being investigated, and anyone with information is encouraged to directly reach out to Detective Ken Snyder at 517-507-3534 or [email protected].
