While the Elizabethton Fire Department had originally geared up to join a festive Christmas Parade last Saturday, an emergency call diverted their path as a fire engulfed a local mobile home. According to a report from the City of Elizabethton's official website, the fire broke out around 3:45 pm at a residence at 2140 West G. Street. Fire crews were dispatched and found the double-wide mobile home ablaze, working diligently to tackle the intense flames.
In the fire's chaos, Assistant Fire Chief Andy Hardin disclosed that it was a total loss despite firemen's efforts to manage the inferno. Looking around the structure, flames seemed to taunt the brave firefighters as they sought to subdue the destructive dance. While controlling the flames, the team continued searching for residual hot spots throughout and underneath the structure to prevent further mishaps.
There was a sober lining in the wake of the disaster, with no individuals reported to be present at the home during the outbreak and thus no reported injuries. A heater is suspected of the fire's origin, per Hardin's statement acquired by Elizabethton's website report. The investigation into further details regarding the fire's cause and progression carries on.
The flame was knocked down, and supportive hands from various agencies, including the Elizabethton Police Department, the Elizabethton Electric System, and the Carter County Rescue Squad, were on the scene, as noted in the official report.
