Missouri's roads and bridges are set to receive some fresh oversight as Eric Schroeter steps up to the role of deputy director/chief engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). Schroeter's appointment adds a new chapter to his 32-year tenure with the department, where he has already left his mark through various roles, including his most recent six-year stint as the Assistant Chief Engineer.
With an eye for detail that can catch even the most elusive discrepancies in a blueprint, Schroeter holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and boasts the credentials of a Registered Professional Engineer. His career has spanned construction, operations, and design assignments at both district and central office management levels. MoDOT's announcement highlighted Schroeter's interim tenure as district engineer in the Central District, his 2013 ascension to state design engineer, and his instrumental role in delivering a record $10 billion in projects.
"During his time as State Design Engineer and Assistant Chief Engineer, Eric has guided the department to deliver a record $10 billion in projects, $385 million under budget and 94% on time, which is unprecedented by state DOTs," MoDOT Director Ed Hassinger said in a statement. Hassinger, who Schroeter is succeeding, took a leap into the MoDOT Director position himself this past November.
