
Tragedy struck on Benning Road in Northeast Washington, D.C., as police responded to a fatal shooting that left a man dead on Monday afternoon. According to a press release from the Metropolitan Police Department, on Monday, just minutes before 4:00 p.m., officers from the Fifth District arrived at the 1800 block of Benning Road to investigate reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, authorities found 31-year-old Damion Hill, a man with no fixed address, suffering from gunshot wounds. The officers’ attempts to save the man’s life were in vain as DC Fire and EMS pronounced him dead at the scene after they found no signs consistent with life. Hill's identity was later released to the public by the MPD.
The investigation into Hill's death is ongoing, with MPD detectives combing through evidence and seeking information from the public. The Metropolitan Police Department has announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for this homicide. The department urges anyone knowledgeable about the incident to come forward and assist in bringing justice to this case.
