Early Christmas morning was marred by tragedy in South Los Angeles with a violent three-vehicle collision at 250 W 53rd Street, claiming the life of one individual and injuring seven others. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported to the scene at approximately 1:53 a.m., where they found the vehicles severely damaged, with one patient requiring extrication and sadly, pronounced one person deceased on-scene. "One patient was beyond medical help and determined deceased on scene," the LAFD statement read.
Fire officials disclosed that three of the eight patients involved in a collision were transported to a local hospital, with one patient in serious condition and two in fair condition. Amid the chaos, five others declined transport, choosing instead to seek their aid. KTLA footage captured a dark-colored SUV and a small sedan in front of an apartment building, bearing the brunt of the crash impact.
Dramatic footage from the scene, provided by OnScene.TV showed a sobering aftermath and authorities detaining a man, who was handcuffed and placed into the back of a police patrol vehicle. It is unclear at this time the role this individual may have played in the incident. "The LAPD is still investigating the cause of the crash," as stated by CBS Los Angeles.
